Job summary

Virginia Family Dentistry is seeking an experienced Orthodontic Assistant to join our West End/Atlee team. The role involves chairside assistance, taking x-rays and impressions, and educating patients on treatment and oral hygiene. You will work closely with doctors, staff, and patients to ensure high-quality care.

Typical hours are 8 am-5 pm Monday-Thursday and 8 am-1 pm Friday. This full-time, on-site position offers an hourly wage between $17 and $25 based on experience and includes a

• 6 months or more of orthodontic experience or completion of a dental assisting program
• X-ray certification

Responsibilities

• Chair side assist the doctor by passing instruments and assisting during procedures
• Place, change and remove elastic separators, arch wires, brackets and ligature ties
• Take intra-oral measurements for orthodontic procedures
• Take x-rays and impressions of patients' teeth
• Prepare patient molds and assist with trays, setup, and cleanup for procedures
• Review schedule and prepare for patient appointments with needed supplies and lab cases
• Maintain infection control and sterilization protocols
• Order and unpack supplies and support doctor scheduling and lab work
