Job summary

Cooke Orthodontics in Napa, California, is seeking a dedicated Orthodontic Assistant to join our well-established practice. You will prepare patients, assist the orthodontist, and help ensure smooth appointments.

Qualifications

• Orthodontic assistant or Registered Dental Assistant (RDA).
• Radiology license required to take x-rays.
• Familiarity with orthodontic/dental management software desired.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with patients and families.
• Strong attention to detail and time management.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for treatment, seat and comfort them.
• Assist the orthodontist during evaluations and procedures.
• Take x-rays, photos, impressions, and intraoral scans.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-care.
• Enter chart notes accurately and maintain sterilization.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Prepare patients for treatment by welcoming, comforting, and seating,
• Build positive relationships with patients, families, and coworkers to ensure the targeted outcome treatment remains on schedule.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene.
• Enter detailed chart/record notations in the practice management system.
• Take x-rays, photos, impressions, and intraoral scans.
• Provide reports to parents/guardians.
• Assist Orthodontist with consultations and all stages of orthodontic procedures.
• Clean/disinfect operatories and sterilize instruments and devices.
• Set up trays and prepare brackets for bonding.
• Unload and store new supplies.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the Doctor, Clinical Lead, and Practice Manager.

The Teammate We’re Looking For

• Orthodontic Assistant is preferred, or Registered Dental Assistant
• Radiology License required to take x-rays
• Good understanding of relevant health and safety regulations
• Proficiency with orthodontic/dental management software systems is preferred, but not required.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills, with a proven ability to build strong relationships and rapport with patients, parents, doctors, fellow team members and the community.
• Keen attention-to-detail and time management skills.
