Job summary

Hudec Dental’s HD Orthodontics team in Canton, OH is seeking a full-time Orthodontic Assistant. You will support chairside care, prepare patients, place and remove appliances, and take X-rays while maintaining a clean, safe, and friendly environment.

The ideal candidate brings orthodontic experience or a strong willingness to train, with excellent patient communication and teamwork. Competitive pay and modern technology await the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Orthodontic assisting experience is strongly preferred, but training is available for the right candidate.
• Knowledge of orthodontic procedures, terminology, and instruments.
• Familiarity with Open Dental software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist chairside during appointments and procedures.
• Prepare patients for treatment and ensure a comfortable visit.
• Place and remove appliances (brackets, wires, bands, ties, retainers) per state rules.
• Take digital X-rays, photographs, and scans.
• Sterilize instruments and maintain treatment rooms per infection control standards.
• Review treatment instructions and educate patients on care.
• Update patient charts and keep accurate clinical records.
• Support scheduling and patient flow to keep the office efficient.
• Collaborate with orthodontist and team to maintain a positive environment.

Orthodontic Assistant

We are looking for an Orthodontic Assistant to join our HD Orthodontic team in Canton and Northfield.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about creating an exceptional patient experience through compassionate care, patient education, and strong teamwork. The ideal candidate is energized by a fast-paced environment, enjoys building meaningful relationships with patients, and is dedicated to making every patient feel informed, comfortable, supported, and confident throughout every step of their orthodontic journey.

What You’ll Do

• Assist the orthodontist chairside during patient appointments and orthodontic procedures
• Prepare patients for treatment and help create a comfortable, positive experience at every visit
• Place and remove orthodontic appliances, including brackets, wires, bands, ties, and retainers, as permitted by state regulations
• Take digital X-rays, photographs, and scans
• Sterilize instruments and maintain treatment rooms according to infection control and safety standards
• Review treatment instructions and educate patients on appliance care, oral hygiene, and what to expect throughout treatment
• Update patient charts and maintain accurate clinical records
• Support scheduling and patient flow to help the office run smoothly and efficiently
• Work closely with the orthodontist and team to create an organized, upbeat, and patient-focused environment
