Job summary

Atrium Health in Charlotte, NC seeks a part-time Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant) for orthopedic and musculoskeletal urgent care. You will evaluate, treat, and manage ambulatory orthopedic cases in walk-in and scheduled visits.

Flexible weekday/evening shifts, no on-call burden, 16 hours per week; must hold a DEA license, PA license, NCCPA certification, and BLS. Join a leading community-focused academic health system.

Qualifications

• Must have or be eligible for a DEA license.
• Approved to practice as a Physician Assistant.
• Master’s Degree preferred; NCCPA certification preferred.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers required with expiration > 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Orthopedic Urgent Care: walk-in and scheduled visits.
• Part time: rotate APP orthopedic practice with flexible schedule, no call burden.
• Evaluate and treat ambulatory orthopedic urgent care consults: history, exams, imaging, and consult with supervising surgeon.
• Perform splinting, bracing, casting, injections/aspirations in outpatient settings.

Essential Functions

• Orthopedic Urgent Care- walk-in and scheduled visits
• Part time- Participate in the rotating APP orthopedic practice. Flexible schedule, no call burden.
• Participate in the initial evaluation & treatment ambulatory orthopedic urgent care consults: obtaining history, performing physical exams, ordering and reviewing appropriate diagnostic studies and imaging, and conferring with supervising orthopedic surgeon
• Perform splinting, bracing, casting, orthopedic injections/aspirations, in the out-patient clinic settings

Education, Experience, and Certifications

Must have or be eligible for a DEA license. Approved to practice as a Physician Assistant. Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required; Master’s Degree preferred. Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred. BLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA required with expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice. Demonstrates appropriate critical thinking, interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritize and make proactive decisions. Three years of relative experience and/or surgical background preferred.
