Job summary

Sentara Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the 3 West Ortho/Trauma unit at Virginia Beach General Hospital on a flexi weekend day shift.

The RN will provide competent nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, while collaborating with the Ortho/Trauma team and other units.

This role includes participation in Sentara’s Nurse Residency program for new graduates and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• ADN required, BSN or higher preferred.
• Virginia or compact multistate RN license in good standing (in lieu of state license) is required.
• BLS within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation).
• Collaborate with 3 West Ortho/Trauma team and other hospital units to coordinate care.
• Teach and promote health, education, and evidence-based practice to patients and families.
• Participate in the Nurse Residency program for new graduates to ensure successful onboarding.

Sentara Health is currently hiring for an RN to work at Virginia Beach General Hospital on the 3 West Ortho/Trauma Unit.

Shift: Flexi - Weekend Days 7a-7p

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

Department Overview:
The 3 West Ortho/Trauma unit at Sentara Virginia Beach General specializes in providing expert care for patients with musculoskeletal injuries and related complications. Our unit is comprised of 24 in-patient beds. Our patient population includes admissions from the Ortho Joint, Spine, Fracture, and Ortho/Trauma centers, as well as medical/surgical patients. The nursing unit enjoys a supportive team environment including resources such as a unit-based nurse educator, orthopedic navigator, respiratory therapy, PT/OT, nursing care partners, unit coordinators, charge nurse and manager. The unit has an active Unit-Based Partnership Council and participates in many hospital-wide Nurse led Councils.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $41.93 - $61.01 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
