Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking an Ortho Medical Assistant to support physicians across orthopedic practices in Pittsburgh. The role includes wound care, dressings, EKGs, splint/cast care, injections, vaccines, phlebotomy, and assisting ultrasound procedures.

You will prepare exam rooms, interview patients, document health information in the electronic health record, and may function as a scribe to maintain clinic workflow. Travel to satellite locations is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED.
• AHN Medical Assistant School graduation within five years or accredited athletic training program.
• Medical Assistant Certification or Athletic Trainer Licensure within 120 days of hire.
• CPR – American Heart Association.
• Background clearances (Act 34/33/73) as required.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and extenders in orthopedic practice locations.
• Perform wound care, dressings, EKGs, suture/staple removal, casting/splinting, injections, vaccines, botox, phlebotomy, and ultrasound assistance as trained.
• Coordinate patient care under supervision and orient patients and families.
• Prepare exam rooms, interview patients, and order radiographs per protocols.
• Document in the electronic health record and update allergy/medication/history/pain screening.
• Travel to satellite locations to support physicians; may serve as a scribe to maintain workflow.
