Dignity Health - California Hospital Medical Center in downtown Los Angeles is seeking an Ortho Surgical Tech to join our scrub team, assisting surgeons and nurses and ensuring safe, efficient orthopedic procedures. You will prepare the OR, pass instruments, maintain sterile field, count items, and support patient positioning.

Strong attention to detail, aseptic technique, and teamwork are essential to protect patient safety and outcomes.

• Provide in-service training to staff and surgeons on new equipment and instrumentation.

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our Ortho Surgical Tech, you'll be an integral surgical team member, providing skilled assistance for safe, efficient procedures critical to patient outcomes.

Every day you will prepare the OR (instruments, equipment, supplies) and assist surgeons/nurses by anticipating needs, passing instruments, and maintaining the sterile field. You'll count items, handle specimens, assist with patient positioning, and adhere strictly to aseptic technique.

To be successful, you will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, strong sterile technique knowledge, and the ability to anticipate needs in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and a steadfast commitment to patient safety are essential.

• Assist the Orthopedic surgeon in surgery, order all required special instrumentation and prosthesis needed for Orthopedic cases and all cases utilizing special instrumentation in a timely manner.
• Prepares all Orthopedic special equipment and other specialty cases utilizing cameras, video equipment as well as acting as a resource person in a timely manner.
• Competent in knowledge and practice with carrying out aseptic technique for self and others according to AORN standards and practices.
• Ensures that all instrument, equipment and supplies are readily available, clean, and in good working condition before surgery starts according to department practice.
• Provide in-service to staff and Surgeons on new equipment and instrumentation according to manufacturers guidelines.

Job Requirements

Required

• Fire Safety, within 90 Days
• Basic Life Support - CPR

Preferred

• High School Graduate General Studies
• Certified Surgical Technologist
