Job summary

UTMB Health's Orthopaedic Surgery department in Galveston seeks a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to work with Attending Surgeons in direct in-patient and out-patient care, including some clinical research.

The role requires PA or NP program completion, appropriate certification/licensure, and EMR proficiency. Prior orthopaedic exposure is preferred but not required, with opportunities across OR, inpatient, and clinic settings.

Qualifications

• Completion of a physician assistant program accredited by the ARC-PA.
• No experience required for PA role.

Responsibilities

• Obtains medical histories, organizes data, performs physical examinations and orders pertinent studies.
• Documents health encounters in the electronic medical records and ensures proper documentation of conditions.
• Provides patient education regarding perioperative and postoperative care and health maintenance.
• Assist in orthopaedic surgery inpatient/outpatient care under supervision.
