Job summary

Premier Ambulatory Surgery Center in Nashville, TN, is seeking a Certified First Assist to support the operating surgeon as first/second assistant during procedures.

You will be responsible for assistance with exposure, hemostasis, patient positioning, draping, and rapid turnover between cases, while ensuring safety and efficiency.

Applicants must have a CSFA, CAAHEP-accredited program, BLS, CSA, and OR experience; BCLS required on employment; ortho experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited program in surgical assisting.
• BLS certification required.
• One year OR experience, ambulatory surgery center preferred.
• Ortho experience required.
• Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) certification.
• BCLS certification upon employment (online not acceptable).

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgeon as first/second assistant during operative procedures.
• Support exposure, hemostasis, and other technical tasks per surgeon.
• Restock and change over rooms between cases.
• Communicate needs with the surgeon before cases.
• Assist with patient positioning, skin prep, and draping.
• Assist with suction, irrigation, and sponging during a surgical procedure.
• Assist with skin closure and suturing under surgeon's direction.
