Job Description

Michael Baker International seeks a Surface Transportation Department Manager to lead and expand our Orlando Surface Transportation Practice. You will develop and maintain trusted adviser relationships with clients across Central Florida, influence market awareness through professional associations, technical articles, conferences, and boards, and work closely with local and regional management teams to develop targeted client service plans for FDOT, counties, and cities. Responsibilities include coordinating staff workloads, overseeing project delivery, leading pursuits, and strategic positioning for major transportation projects, including alternative delivery methods.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow the transportation practice in Orlando, managing a team of engineers and designers on roadway, highway, traffic, and interstate projects for FDOT and other clients.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards, providing technical guidance and oversight.
  • Mentor staff, develop budgets and schedules, and lead proposal strategies to win new work.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key clients and industry partners, and participate actively in professional organizations.

Professional Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • PE license in Florida.
  • 12+ years of highway, roadway, traffic, or structural design experience, with 6+ years in a supervisory role.
  • Established relationships with FDOT Districts, CFX, FTE, MPOs, and municipal clients.
  • Strong leadership, communication, proposal development, and project delivery skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%, primarily within Central Florida.

Compensation

Range: $113,684 to $177,561, dependent on experience and qualifications.
