Job summary

bastiontechnologies is seeking an Orion GN&C Engineer to support the space program in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will develop and evaluate safety-critical GN&C flight software, integrate and test new algorithms, and provide design and process improvement recommendations.

Job description

The Orion GN&C Engineer will support the space program located in Houston, TX.

Responsibilities

• Develop and evaluate safety-critical, human rated GN&C flight software.
• Develop, integrate, and test new GN&C algorithms.
• Develop, integrate, and test new algorithms for evaluation of vehicle and mission performance.
• Develop, integrate, and test new algorithms for trajectory optimizations.
• Provide recommendations for improvements in design and software development processes.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Experience with development and analysis of 6 DOF algorithms and simulations.
• Experience with orbital mechanics and GN&C principles.
• Experience with design, verification, testing, and operation of GN&C software.
• Experience with LINUX, Python, MATLAB, Simulink, and C/C++.
• Experience with Git/GitLab version control.
• Experience with the development of space system requirements and documents.

• Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and/or Machine Learning.
• Experience with safety-critical, human-rated embedded software development.
• Experience with Object oriented software development.

• Experience with spacecraft rendezvous, proximity operations, and docking.

• Working knowledge of NASA, JSC, and ISS standard practices and requirements (including safety).

• Experience with the NASA Trick simulation architecture and JEOD (JSC Engineering Orbital Dynamics).

Work Location

• This position is located onsite and offers a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off; some travel may be required.
• Schedules are subject to change based on the requirements of the position and/or customer needs.

Background Investigations Required

Drug and Alcohol Screening Required

• Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time) and may require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
• Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.
