Job summary

Geronimo Power in Bloomington, MN invites an Origination Intern for Summer 2027 to join the Origination team and gain hands‑on experience across renewable energy, energy storage, and data parks. You will work with commercial leaders to identify and advance opportunities, support PPAs and strategic transactions, and help shape market expansion initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Support active business development and commercialization opportunities with analyses and materials.

• Help expand use of AI by developing prompts and workflows, and automating tasks.
• Maintain trackers and CRM data for opportunities, RFPs, and customers.
• Prepare meeting materials and coordinate follow‑ups for meetings.
• Assist with due diligence and cross‑functional coordination across teams.
• Prepare management reports and strategic analyses for decision‑making.

About This Role

Geronimo Power's Origination team is seeking an Origination Intern for Summer 2027. This internship provides hands‑on experience supporting the company's business development and commercialization efforts across renewable energy, energy storage, powered data parks, and other emerging market opportunities. The intern will work directly with commercial leaders to help identify, evaluate, and advance new customer opportunities, strategic transactions, and market expansion initiatives. This role offers exposure to renewable energy development, customer acquisition, commercial strategy, project commercialization, utility procurement processes, market analysis, and AI-driven business solutions. The intern will contribute directly to active opportunities while gaining insight into how renewable energy projects are positioned, contracted, financed, and brought to market.

Responsibilities

• Support active business development and commercialization opportunities by preparing analyses, customer materials, presentations, internal briefings, and executive updates.
• Conduct market, customer, utility, and competitive research to identify new opportunities and inform commercial strategy.
• Assist with the commercial and financial evaluation of power purchase agreements (PPAs), build‑transfer transactions, project sales, RFP responses, and other strategic growth opportunities.
• Support utility procurement, data center development, and emerging market initiatives through research, analysis, and project coordination activities.
• Help the team expand its use of AI by identifying practical use cases, developing prompts and workflows, organizing knowledge resources, automating recurring tasks, and improving team processes.
• Maintain commercial opportunity, customer, and RFP trackers, including monitoring utility and corporate procurement activity, updating pipeline reports, and maintaining CRM data.
• Prepare meeting materials, document key decisions and action items, and coordinate follow‑up activities for internal and external meetings.
• Support due diligence, information gathering, and coordination across Development, Finance, Engineering, Legal, Permitting, M&A, and Executive Leadership teams.
• Assist with preparation of management reports, business cases, and strategic analyses supporting commercial decision‑making.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Marketing, Engineering, Energy Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Interest in renewable energy, business development, project commercialization, corporate strategy, or energy markets.
• Coursework or internship experience involving finance, market research, economics, data analysis, or commercial strategy.
• Experience preparing presentations, business cases, or analytical reports.
• Interest in artificial intelligence, process automation, or business technology applications.
• Familiarity with CRM platforms, data visualization tools, or business intelligence solutions.
• Demonstrated leadership through internships, student organizations, research projects, athletics, or extracurricular activities.

Pay Range: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour. Actual compensation may vary based on education, prior experience, skills, and demonstrated qualifications.
