Job summary

Movement Labs seeks experienced local leaders to serve as Organizing Managers for Community Rising, a research-backed program mobilizing disengaged voters through relationship-based outreach. The role centers on managing a 12–15 person Neighborhood Captain cohort and coaching for success, building on a 2025 pilot and focused on long-term community power.

This temporary position runs through November 15, 2026, with a strong emphasis on team management, data quality, and strategic GOTV operations

Qualifications

• At least 2 cycles of field management experience for voter contact programs.
• Experience managing large teams (10+ people).
• Strong interpersonal and coaching skills, including direct conversations with underperforming staff.
• Experience with onboarding/training new staff in fast-paced or temporary environments.

Responsibilities

• Team Management, Training, and Data Oversight (70%): Manage a regional cohort of 12–15 Neighborhood Captains, provide daily support, ensure high-quality voter contact, and conduct regular one-on-one coaching.
• Regional Management and Thought Partnership (20%): Collaborate with Detroit staff to host city-wide events and execute GOTV operations.
• Administrative responsibilities (10%): Weekly check-ins with manager, attend team meetings, perform other duties as needed.

Our team partners with leading advocacy groups, grassroots organizers, and electoral campaigns to develop innovative tactics, win elections, and shift power for the long term.

Movement Labs is seeking experienced local leaders and organizers, to serve as Organizing Managers for Community Rising, a research-backed organizing program that mobilizes disengaged voters through relationship-based outreach. Building on a successful 2025 pilot, the program focuses on long-term relationship building with neighbors who didn't vote in 2024, blending traditional organizing with digital tools to build lasting community power and generate evidence for what works. The Organizing Manager’s mission is to manage a team of 12–15 part‑time Neighborhood Captains and set them up for success with coaching and support.

This is a temporary position for the 2026 election cycle that will run until November 15, 2026.

About the role:

As an Organizing Manager, you will be the primary driver of program quality in your metropolitan area. You will balance your time between high-level team management, coaching, and rigorous data quality control. Your goal is to ensure every voter in your region's universe receives consistent, high-quality interactions with the Neighborhood Captains.

Responsibilities:

Team Management, Training, and Data Oversight (70%)

• Manage a regional cohort of 12–15 Neighborhood Captains, providing daily support and troubleshooting for voter contact issues.
• Ensure Captains are performing high-quality voter contact; hold Captains accountable to voter contact goals and relationship building.
• Conduct regular one-on-one feedback sessions to address performance gaps and to coach and build skills as needed.

Regional Management and Thought Partnership (20%)

• Work with the existing Detroit staff to hold city wide events focused on culture building and skill building.
• Work with existing Detroit staff and Community Rising Leadership to execute a robust GOTV operation.

Administrative responsibilities (10%)

• Have weekly check-ins with your manager.
• Attend weekly team meetings.
• Other administrative duties as needed.

• Management & Training:
  • At least 2 cycles of field management experience for voter contact programs.
  • Experience managinglarge teams (10 or more people).
  • Strong interpersonal and coaching skills, including the ability to have direct, constructive conversations with underperforming staff while maintaining trust and morale.
  • Experience with onboarding/training new staff, ideally in a fast-paced or temporary environment.
• Technical Skills:
  • Comfortable learning and troubleshooting canvassing/organizing tools (e.g., ECanvasser, Hustle, etc).
  • Proficient with everyday workplace tools (Slack, Google Workspace, ADP or similar timekeeping systems).
  • Able to read and interpret a dashboard to diagnose problems (e.g., noticing when a contact rate looks anomalous and knowing to flag it rather than assume the worst).

Compensation and Benefits

• Total compensation for the duration of the cycle is $15,000, plus a $5,000 pre‑tax end‑of‑cycle bonus upon successful completion of the program.
