Purpose

  • This position will primarily focus on Organized Retail Crime (ORC) related activities and investigations and assist with deterrence, detection and apprehension of individuals committing thefts or other crimes at the store level. The ORC Investigator will conduct interviews of subjects that are detained by Asset Protection Specialist (APS) at the store level who are suspected of being involved in ORC related activity.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Conducts internal and external investigations, with a focus on ORC, at the direction and oversight of a DAPM/ORC Manager.
  • Trains AP staff on what ORC is and what an ORC subject may be targeting and identifying trends and patterns.
  • Trains AP staff on the proper procedures to follow when they come in contact with an ORC subject.
  • Works with AP staff on ORC suspect interviews, either by phone call or in-person.
  • Demonstrates working partnership with law enforcement.
  • Must possess good written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrates organized and timely case completion and reporting.
  • Prepares and maintains proper documentation of investigations using AP's report writing standards.
  • Demonstrates ability to interview individuals, collect statements, collect and review supporting documents.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with CCTV review, retrieval, and reporting.
  • Division, Distribution Center and Manufacturing Plants CCTV Systems.
  • Demonstrates working partnership with Labor Relations, Human Resources, District Managers and Operations staff.
  • Establishes positive partnerships with store personnel to assist in maintaining an atmosphere of ethical behavior.
  • Assists with AP related inspections/reviews to ensure compliance with polices related to shrink control and cash handling.
  • Responsible for performing all job duties accurately, timely, safely and with honesty and integrity.
  • Ability to understand the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) process and conduct AML audits.
  • Ability to travel when needed or as directed.
  • Demonstrates ability to manage travel expenses and schedules to be cost effective to the company.
  • Establishes positive partnerships with store personnel to help maintain an enthusiastic work environment.
  • Cooperates with and responds to requests made by police departments, courts and other law enforcement agencies as directed by AP Management and in-house counsel. Ability to maintain records made of such requests.
  • Reports all incidents of unsafe store conditions and associate conduct to Store Director and AP Management.
  • Takes immediate action to report and remedy any imminent safety hazard.
  • Reports deficiencies in food safety and handling standards to Store Director and AP management. Takes immediate action to report whenever freshness or quality standards are not met.

  • Demonstrates a friendly, courteous, and tactful demeanor and maintain composure in dealing with individuals in a confrontational and high stress environment.
  • Ability to stand, sit or walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to move quickly in case of emergencies.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions, deal with potentially difficult situations effectively and assertively.
  • Ability to work as a team player and understand and accept instructions and to communicate with co-workers and the public.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain proper documentation of work.
  • Ability to identify situations that may require immediate attention or intervention and to react according to Company policies and procedures.
  • Must possess mental alertness, basic mathematics skills and weights and measures.
  • Must poses basic computer knowledge to include Microsoft office and its components.
  • Comply with all Company policies including safety, Asset Protection, attendance, grooming standards, and dress codes.
  • May be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Scheduled hours will vary. Good attendance is required.
  • Exposure to outdoors when conducting surveillance.
  • Exposure to potential hostility when confronting or apprehending shoplifters.

Colorado Positions Only: Salary Range Begins: $23.25 an hour and is commensurate with experience and other relevant factors.

Full-time position: Benefits eligibility after 60 days of employment - medical, dental, vision, pharmacy, life insurance. Annual Vacation time. Entry level position with advancement opportunities.

Varied work schedule and locations. Locations determined by region the position is posted. Varied schedule includes evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Good attendance is required. Reliable transportation is expected.
