Job summary

University of Kentucky in Lexington seeks an Assistant or Associate Professor of Plant and Soil Sciences to build an active program in organic biogeochemistry with applications to agroecosystems and the environment.

The candidate will use advanced analytical techniques, collaborate across soil science, ecology, and environmental science programs, and contribute to graduate and undergraduate teaching in environmental analytical chemistry and climate-related biogeochemistry.

Qualifications

Earned doctorate in soil science, earth sciences, environmental sciences, aquatic sciences, environmental chemistry, or related areas.
Post-doctoral experience in biogeochemistry and analytical chemistry, especially high-resolution mass spectrometry, is desirable.
Strong written and oral communication skills are required; expected to obtain extramural funding.

Responsibilities

Research: develop a nationally and internationally recognized program in organic biogeochemistry focusing on agroecosystems and aquatic ecosystems.
Teaching: develop graduate courses in environmental organic analytical chemistry/applied mass spectrometry; teach undergrad courses on biogeochemistry/climate change.
Service: contribute to department, college, university, and professional societies; foster collaboration across programs.
