Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing is required.
  • Associate degree with a minimum of 1 year transplant experience preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience in an Acute Care setting is required.
  • 7+ years in acute care medical/surgical settings preferred.
  • NJ State Professional RN License is required.
  • Certified Clinical Transplant Coordinator within 30 months of starting is required.
  • AHA/Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assess suitability and prepare transplant recipients for solid organ transplantation.
  • Monitor recipient health status and diagnostic tests regularly.
  • Coordinate evaluation and documentation for selection committee.
  • Communicate outcomes to patients and providers as needed.
  • Educate recipients, families, and staff; provide emotional support.
  • Work with the transplant team to meet QA and regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate OPTN/UNOS listing and complete documentation.
  • Coordinate preoperative care and monitor postoperative organ function.
  • Prepare patients for discharge and coordinate outpatient care.

About This Role

The Organ Transplant Coordinator is responsible for coordinating clinical aspects of care for patients throughout the transplantation process. This role is ideal for individuals who excel in collaboration and have a strong background in nursing.

What You'll Do
  • Assess suitability and prepare potential transplant recipients for solid organ transplantation.
  • Monitor and evaluate recipient health status and diagnostic tests regularly.
  • Facilitate evaluation and complete information/testing requirements for patient presentation at selection committee.
  • Communicate outcomes to patients and providers as needed.
  • Evaluate educational needs and provide teaching to recipients, families, and staff.
  • Provide emotional support to family members.
  • Work closely with the transplant team to fulfill QA and regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate OPTN/UNOS listing of transplant candidates and complete documentation requirements.
  • Coordinate preoperative care for patients and monitor postoperative organ function.
  • Prepare patients for discharge and coordinate outpatient care.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing required, Associates Degree with a minimum of 1 year of transplant experience preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in an Acute Care setting required. 7+ years in acute care medical/surgical setting preferred.
  • Licenses & Certifications: NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License required. Certified Clinical Transplant Coordinator within 30 months of entering position required. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification required.
