This role requires advanced transplant knowledge and strong communication.

Qualifications

  • BSN from an accredited nursing program.
  • MSN from an accredited nursing program.
  • Minimum 2 years related experience or training.
  • 5 years RN experience with critical care and transplant coordination.
  • California RN license.
  • BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross).
  • CCTC certification within 1 year of hire.
  • Ability to manage all transplant patient care stages.
  • Strong communication across diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks.

Description

Serve as Supervisor for Transplant and VAD Coordinators under the direction of the Transplant Nurse Manager.Responsible for operational and supervisory leadership by overseeing daily workflows, ensuring regulatory compliance (UNOS, CMS, OPTN), managing staffing and schedules, guiding complex clinical decision making, mentoring and evaluating coordinators, supporting quality improvement and facilitating interdisciplinary communication, and partnering with the Nurse Manager to maintain program continuity, growth, and high quality patient care. Clinical case management of the transplant recipient/ living donor involving all phases of the transplant process, from initial referral throughout patient follow-up.This position requires an advanced level of expertise and overall understanding of organ transplantation for the organ type specified. Responsibility involves coordination of interdisciplinary medical care delivery system under the direction of the Medical Director; liaison functions with patient, family, medical staff, referring physicians, and insurance companies; individualized patient/family teaching; assessment of appropriate medical intervention for effective use of resources and quality assurance.Additional responsibilities include data collection for clinical management and certification requirements, development of educational materials and programs for patients, nursing staff and physicians.Develop clinical protocols, and policy and procedures.Community education and public relations.Transplant donor/recipient coordination and liaison function with organ procurement agencies.

Salary Range: $132,300-$307,100

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree - Graduation from an accredited nursing program with a B.S. degree
  • Master's Degree - Graduation from an accredited nursing program with a Master's degree
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience or training
  • 5 years of relevant RN experience with a combination of critical care and transplant coordinator experience
  • California Registered Nurse License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • CCTC (Certified Clinical Transplant Coordinator) certification within 1 year of hire
  • Ability to case manage all aspects of a transplant patient's medical care from initial evaluation through post-transplant follow-up
  • Broad understanding and knowledge of organ transplantation, including immunology, immunosuppression, rejection and other complications of transplantation, drug toxicity, and graft failure
  • Ability to communicate effectively with persons of various cultural backgrounds
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interface effectively with patients and their families
  • Excellent organizational skills and proficiency in meeting deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize workload
  • Ability to manage numerous concurrent tasks in a high-stress environment and deal with change
  • Ability to effectively coordinate and assess patient care
  • Ability to act as a liaison with nursing staff, outside agencies, team physicians, referring physicians, patients, and families
  • Ability to teach about transplantation and medical management issues
