Job summary

LifeCenter Northwest is seeking a Surgical First Assist to support organ donation operations across Alaska, Montana, Northern Idaho, and Washington. You will wear multiple roles within the OR, assist Surgical Organ Recovery Specialists, and help ensure rapid, safe organ recovery and delivery during and after surgery.

The role involves on-call shifts, extensive travel, and responsibilities in perfusion, preservation, and documentation. A strong OR background and surgical training are required.

Qualifications

• Previous Operating Room experience.
• Certification or relevant surgical training.
• Hands-on tissue manipulation, sharp and blunt dissection, tying and suturing skills.
• Ability to meet schedule and travel requirements.
• Lift up to 75 pounds with or without assistance.
• Knowledge of anatomy and aseptic technique.
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption required upon offer.

Responsibilities

• Work a 24-hour on-call schedule.
• Travel throughout LifeCenter’s donation service area.
• Provide rapid on-site response.
• Act as Surgical First Assist to the Surgical Organ Recovery Specialist.
• Responsible for renal pulsatile perfusion of suitable kidneys.
• Independently recover organs for research and heart valve processing.
• Preserve and package organs for transplantation outcomes.
• Document case data and complete recovery documentation within assigned timeframe.
• Ensure effective communication with hospital personnel and transplant centers.
• Assist thoracic recovery teams with recovery perfusion and packaging.
