Overview

  • Statline: a division of MTF Biologics, provides specialized communications and technology expertise to organ, tissue, and eye procurement organizations, as well as the hospital and patients that they serve.

The Organ Placement Specialist (OPS) is responsible for coordinating all aspects of organ transplantation, including contacting recipients for wellness checks and organ implantation at the transplant center during business and non-business hours, including weekends and holidays. Acts as a liaison between our transplant center partners and various organizations including but not limited to OPOs, HLA staff, Operating room staff, and medical transportation companies.

Responsibilities
  • Screening organ offers against transplant center specific criteria.
  • Responding to incoming local/import organ offers from Organ Procurement Organizations through UNOS.
  • Receiving initial and update calls, collecting data to determine organ suitability, and communicating with transplant teams.
  • Conducting wellness checks with transplant patients and documenting in EMR and proprietary software.
  • Triaging and routing transplant center patient calls.
  • Attending OPS and transplant center meetings/trainings.
  • Interacting with OPOs, transplant teams, and surgical staff to facilitate organ recovery and recipient surgery.
  • Responding to calls from involved parties and documenting all interactions.
  • Evaluating organ offers for transplant, including clinical evaluation and test results.
  • Communicating with involved agencies throughout the organ placement process.
  • Maintaining proficiency through ongoing education and training.
  • Training and mentoring other Organ Placement Specialists.
  • Performing all aspects of organ offer coordination per SOPs and regulatory standards.
  • Assisting on special projects and additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/G.E.D.
  • 3+ years of medical background or training (e.g., EMT, Paramedic, LPN, RN, EMS dispatcher).
  • Preferred: 2+ years in organ donation, certifications like CTP, CCTC, CPTC.
  • Coursework in Human Anatomy and Physiology preferred.
  • Self-motivated with strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Typing speed of at least 30 wpm.
  • Ability to multitask, problem-solve, and adapt quickly.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
