Job summary

Testa Produce, Inc. in Chicago is seeking a Warehouse Associate to perform general warehouse duties, including loading, unloading, selecting, sorting and moving products in a fast-paced facility.

You will operate powered industrial trucks, transfer merchandise, ensure accurate order picking with the WMS, and maintain a clean, safe workspace in compliance with OSHA and food safety rules. This position offers a stable schedule, competitive hourly pay, benefits, and opportunities for career

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year of warehouse/distribution experience.
• Experience with powered industrial equipment and RF scanners preferred.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, and move products in the warehouse.
• Safely operate forklifts and pallet jacks.
• Assist in picking, sorting, and packing orders.
• Ensure accurate order fulfillment using the WMS.
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace and follow safety regulations.
• Support dispatch and warehouse teams in shipping processes.

Job description

Founded in 1991, Testa Produce, Inc. is the successor entity to the original Dominick Testa and Sons. Testa Produce's roots date back to 1912, with founder Dominick Testa selling stalks of celery door-to-door out of a basket. The creation of the Chicago Terminal Produce Market provided a central selling location for years. As the restaurant industry evolved, so did Testa Produce. In 2011, Testa expanded yet again and moved into its new home: a 91,300 square foot facility to accommodate an ever-growing list of restaurant, hotel and food service customers.

Essential Functions:

• Perform general physical activities in a warehouse, including loading, unloading, selecting, sorting, and moving products and materials manually
• Safelyoperatethe forklift to move products throughout the facility including pulling and stocking of product
• Utilize powered industrial trucks, including forklifts (including stand-up) and pallet rider jacks to transfer merchandise from one location to another
• Transport filled and completed orders to the designated shipping assembly areas for further processing
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace to promote safety and efficiency in the warehouse
• Select customer orders accurately and efficiently using the Warehouse Management System (WMS)
• Work closely with the Dispatch/Warehouse team to ensure the correct handling of picked orders
• Perform quality checks to ensure the accuracy of picked orders and report any issues or discrepancies to the supervisor
• Comply with all applicable OSHA and Food Safety regulations

Education, and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 1 year of recent and successful experience performing the above functions in a significant manufacturing or warehouse/distribution environment. Prior distribution or food industry experience preferred
• Experience with Power Industrial Equipment including forklifts and RF scanner, preferred

Compensation:

• $16.60/hour

Schedule:

• Monday – Thursday (Friday and Sundayoff)
• Start time: 7:00am
• Some mandatory Holiday work included

Physical Demands:

• Lift up to 50lbs
• Stand or walk forlong periodsof time
• Work in cold and wet cooler conditions for extended periods of time
