Job summary

Responsibilities

• Fill linen carts with clean linen according to par levels for various areas.
• Prepare supplemental, unscheduled orders as needed.
• Complete production and cart logs; use handheld devices for recording.
• Monitor equipment to ensure safe operation and report malfunctions.
• Provide backup to other Linen Services positions to maintain workflow.
• Suggest improvements to processes and assist with implementation.
• Stay informed about developments in the laundry field and apply knowledge.

• Fills a variety of linen orders for customers in a timely, safe and sanitary manner.

Skills or Special Abilities

• Must be able to read, write, perform basic mathematical calculations and follow instructions.
• Must be able to demonstrate manual dexterity, accurately count linen and maintain applicable records.
• Must be able to move heavy linen carts constantly throughout the workday.
• Must be able to demonstrate a basic working knowledge of applicable laundry equipment.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers and other hospital staff.

Responsibilities

• Fills linen carts with clean linen, according to established par levels, for various linen-user areas. Prepares supplemental, unscheduled linen orders as needed.
• Completes production logs, cart-filling logs and other assigned paperwork correctly and legibly. Uses electronic "hand-held" devices for recording usage information to be entered into shipping/receiving software system.
• Stays alert to ensure proper equipment use and to identify and report any equipment malfunctions. Operates all laundry equipment in a manner to ensure safety and minimize equipment malfunctions. Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
• Provides backup to other positions in the Linen Services department, including soiled linen sorting and processing clean linen, to ensure continuous workflow and maintain adequate production levels.
• Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer service satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, assists with implementation and monitoring of results in support of the overall goals of Linen Services and PHHS.
• Stays abreast of latest developments in the laundry industry by attending meetings and in-service sessions, and integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
• Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact Linen Services and adheres to internal controls to ensure compliance. Seeks advice and guidance as necessary to ensure proper understanding.
