Job summary

S.P. Richards Company is seeking a warehouse associate in Grand Rapids, MI to pull items efficiently and accurately according to customer orders. The role uses voice-picking and RF scanning, with a typical shift from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM.

You will identify products on the shelf, move them to the checking station, and maintain safety and housekeeping standards in a loud, busy environment. A high school diploma or GED is required, and related experience is welcomed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience.
• Functional literacy and ability to recognize product numbers and line codes.
• Ability to read simple instructions and communicate with the voice picking system.

Responsibilities

• Pull all orders according to the prescribed picking quota as set by management.
• Identify the proper product and quantity on the shelf and transport to the checking station.
• Basic navigation on the computer is required.
• Use of voice picking and RF scanning equipment is required.
• Adherence to the Stockroom Housekeeping Policy and safety rules.
• Maintain accuracy in repetitive tasks while sustaining speed.
• Follow safety rules including handling of hazardous materials.

$17.52 an hour up to $21.62 an hour after 12 months of employment

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Pull all orders for the customer according to the prescribed picking quota as set by management.
• Pull means - to go to the shelf where the product is located; identify the proper product and quantity, pull the product, and transport the product to the checking station.
• Basic navigation on the computer is required.
• Use of voice picking and RF scanning equipment is required.
• Adherence to the Stockroom Housekeeping Policy of facility and specific product line area is required.
• Accuracy in repetitive routine is very important while maintaining good speed.
• Follow and adhere to all safety rules including the handling of hazardous materials.

Qualifications

Must be functionally literate and capable of understanding and recognizing product numbers and line codes to insure proper retrieval of products for shipment, including identifying sequence of numbers and letters accurately and rapidly.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions. Ability to write legibly. The ability to successfully communicate with the voice picking system. Adapt to understanding the voice system’s commands, as well as adapting your speech so that the voice system can understand your input.

Math Ability

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the environment is loud.
