Job summary

The Coca-Cola UNITED facility in Baton Rouge is seeking a hardworking Material Handler Automation 1 to replenish product on semi-automated conveyors and build orders within the automated system. This role supports maintaining production flow and safety standards in a fast-paced environment.

You will ensure a clean, safe work environment, resolve system alarms, and coordinate with teams to meet daily production goals while using PIT equipment and following company policies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum age 18 years old.
  • PPE as required by position and safety policies.
  • Regular and prompt attendance is essential.
  • English understanding and basic communication; fluent not required.

Responsibilities

  • Place correct product on conveyor in semi-automated lanes as released.
  • Resolve alarms in pick areas and communicate opportunities via handheld radio.
  • Sort and place materials on racks or pallets by size, type, or code.
  • Coordinate replenishment with responsible parties.
  • Replenish pallet pick and flow rack zones.
  • Manually build new orders and sort/replenish returns.

Job Description

The Material Handler Automation 1 is responsible for replenishing product on semi-automated conveyors by hand within the automated system, correcting any conveyor system errors, and to manually build new orders or tear down orders returned to the plant. Maintain production rate based on system performance. Ensure a clean and safe work environment according to UNITED standards.

What your day will look like
  • Placement of correct product on conveyor system in semi-automated pick lanes as product releases are relieved from system
  • Resolution of alarms in pick areas by reviewing monitors when alarms are triggered by release issues and communicate system opportunities in a timely manner via handheld radio
  • Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, pallets, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, or product code
  • Coordinate replenishment needs accordingly with responsible parties
  • Replenishment of pallet pick and flow rack zones
  • Manually build new orders and sort/replenish returns in HQS zones
  • Utilize PIT equipment as needed
  • Ensure production goals are met daily
  • General housekeeping
  • All other duties as assigned
What you need to succeed
  • Minimum age 18 years old
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by position and compliance with UNITED safety policies
  • Regular and prompt attendance is an essential function of the job
  • Conversational English understanding and communication skills required. Candidates should be able to understand and convey information in English, although fluency is not a requirement for this role. Ability to maintain a neat professional appearance within Company guidelines
  • Ability to maintain safety and security of Company assets
  • Ability to utilize all company provided resources and technology
  • Less than high school education; or up to 1-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Forklift experience preferred
  • Ability to demonstrate adaptability, safety, security, and initiative skills
  • Ability to be self-motivated and able to perform job duties with minimal supervision
  • Proficient in production cleaning using food grade cleaning solutions
  • Ability to climb up to 24ft of stairs
Physical Requirements

Position will be required to comply with the CCBCU Personal Protective Equipment Program. Position is required to wear safety toed shoes when performing tasks such as operating powered industrial equipment or working in areas where such equipment is in use, fleet maintenance, handling palletized product, or other related activities.

A set of level indicators is used to describe typical effort distribution, including: None, Limited, Occasional, Frequently, Repeatedly, Continuously. The role may require various physical activities such as standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, kneeling, overhead reaching, typing, vehicle operation, PPE use, grasping, pushing/pulling, fine manipulation, lifting up to 50 lbs, carrying up to 50 lbs, and pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs. The following are examples of tasks and their often observed frequencies: Sit (Limited), Stand (Frequent), Walk (Frequent), Bend (Frequent), Climb Stairs (Frequent), etc.

Exposure to water, chemicals, and weather may occur. Noise exposure is a consideration.
