Job description

Job Title: Orbital Tube Welder/Installer

Location: Kennedy Space Center, FL 32815

Duration: 12 months assignment with possible extension

Shift Schedule: 6:00 am- 2:30 pm

Pay Rate: $42/Hour



Job Description:

  • Performs machine set-up, machining, welding set-up, welding, sheet metal fabrication and extrusion, tube bending and fabrication tasks.

  • Performs composite lay-up, fabrication and assembly tasks.

  • Assembles precision mechanical and electro-mechanical components.

  • Assembles, repairs, modifies and installs various power plants and drive trains.

  • Perform soldering on electronic and avionics products.

  • Assembles and installs wire harnesses and avionics products.

  • Prepares test articles, fixtures and data collection devices to perform various tests.

  • Performs organic chemical conversion and paint preparation.

  • Applies organic coatings for corrosion protection and appearance requirements.

  • Works on complex components and systems using established drawings and requirements.


Requirements:

  • Team is seeking 6 mechanics total. Seeking 2 orbital tube welders and 4 tube installers are.


2 orbital tube welders:

  • Must be certified - orbital tube weld certification

  • Must have experience with tube installation, this is a plus +


4 tube installers:

  • Must have experience with tube installation

  • Must obtain a NASA certification post start


Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED and typically 4 or more years' related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Additional secondary duties in other areas will also be performed as required.

  • Will be required to obtain manufacturing certifications on an as needed basis including any associated physical examination.

  • Will be required to perform cleanup and administrative functions as required to support daily activities
