New England Oral Surgery Associates in Worcester, MA seeks a diligent Surgical Assistant II to support our oral surgeon before, during, and after procedures. The role emphasizes organization, patient care, and precise instrument handling to ensure smooth daily operations.

The incumbent will assist with anesthesia setup, chart reviews, post-operative care, and adherence to OSHA and infection control standards, while traveling to other locations as needed.

Qualifications

• This role requires a surgical assistant program completion and relevant certification.
• CPR/BLS certification must be current and valid.
• Must hold a dental X-ray license with pano/PA/CBCT capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide discharge instructions to patients.
• Perform proper instrument cleaning per infection control protocols.
• Operate autoclave and manage sterilization.
• Set up surgical trays and identify instruments used.
• Prepare room for IV anesthesia and surgery.
• Seat patient and perform pre-op setup.
• Review charts and assist during procedures.
• Set up nitrous oxide and ensure patient comfort.
• Monitor patient post-anesthesia recovery.
• Assist in emergencies and operate equipment safely.
• Maintain instruments and headpieces on schedule.
• Communicate effectively with patients and staff.
