Overview

Western Dental- Oral Surgeon Assistants perform their responsibilities as dental auxiliaries in accordance with the state Dental Practice Act. Experienced Oral Surgeon Assistants are responsible for maintaining excellent communication with our doctors and assisting them in all aspects of patient care. Our Oral Surgeon Assistants are trained to be experts in making our patients comfortable during treatment and providing an unparalleled customer experience. Experienced Oral Surgeon Assistants will receive additional training to learn new skills. In addition, Western Dental offers programs to provide training for new Oral Surgeon Assistants to master necessary dental and customer service skills to grow within our organization. Must have a current radiation safety certificate for the state in which they practice. Western Oral Surgeon Assistants take x-rays as directed by the Oral Surgeon and are trained in dental x-ray procedures and infection control related to their tasks. They also become experts in ensuring patient comfort during x-ray procedures and delivering an excellent patient experience.

Responsibilities

1. Assist the Oral Surgeon during patient treatment.
2. Anticipate the dentist’s needs and prepare accordingly.
3. Follow all OSHA, Dental Board, and WDS policies and procedures.
4. Maintain accurate patient treatment records.
5. Ability to measure blood pressure.
6. Provide pre- and post-operative instructions within the scope defined by the Oral Surgeon.
7. Offer oral hygiene instructions to patients.
8. Prepare all units, switches, and water sources before patient treatment.
9. Stock supplies in oratories, restrooms, lab, etc., as needed.
10. Notify the Floor Supervisor when supplies need reordering or when equipment is malfunctioning.
11. Perform sterilization duties as necessary.
12. Build rapport with patients and staff effectively.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certification as an RDA in the applicable state (CA, AZ, NV).
• Current X-Ray License.
• CPR and ACLS certifications required; OMSA or DAANCE preferred.
• Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) preferred.
• Willingness to travel.
• Open availability.
