Qualifications

Job description

The Oral Surgeon will consult and discuss treatment plans with our patients. They will provide oral and maxilliofacial surgery procedures. They will maintain patient records, perform emergency and scheduled treatments as well as providing suitable aftercare instructions and recommendations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Responsible to diagnose oral diseases.
  2. Consult and review treatment plan options with patients.
  3. Continue education to improve quality and broaden scope of care provided to NEMS clients.
  4. Perform surgical procedures to extract impacted or damaged teeth, related dento-alveolar procedures, place dental implants, assist in diagnosis of oral pathology, biopsies to excise or incise tumors in the oral cavity and other abnormal growths of oral and/or facial regions.
  5. Administer general and local anesthetics when necessary.
  6. Prescribe medication to improve recovery and control pain.
  7. Treat infections of the oral cavity, salivary glands, jaw face and neck.
  8. Provide emergency treatment of orofacial injuries including facial lacerations, intraoral lacerations, and fractured facial bones.
  9. Work cooperatively with other professionals and non-medical personnel in referring patients to appropriate services.
  10. Follow and enforce NEMS Infection Control protocol, Medical Waste disposal protocol and Hazard Communication protocol.
  11. Build relationships and foster a high level of customer service.
  12. Utilize and monitor effectiveness and efficiency of all equipment and supplies used in the delivery of services.
  13. Ensure accuracy, efficiency and appropriate confidentiality with patient charting and related recordkeeping and administrative functions as assigned.
  14. Perform other job duties as required by manager/supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Graduate from an accredited school of dentistry recognized by the California State Board of Dental Examiners.
  2. Current License to practice dentistry in the State of California.
  3. Current License to practice Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
  4. Current Dental License to Administer General Anesthesia.
  5. Current documentation of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and Basic Life Support required.

LANGUAGE:

  1. Must be able to fluently speak, read and write English.
  2. Fluent in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin), Vietnamese, Spanish and other languages may be required depending on location.
  3. Fluency in other languages is an asset.

STATUS:

This is an FLSA Exempt position.
This is not an OSHA high-risk position.
