Job summary

Carle Health in Illinois is seeking an Oral Surgery Assistant to support OMFS surgeons. You will assist during procedures, perform radiographs, and help coordinate care in the diagnostic dental lab.

You'll also help with instrument cleaning, sterilization, and accurate documentation. Daily duties include ensuring proper equipment setup, passing instruments, recording vital signs, preparing patients for X‑ray or ICAT imaging, and maintaining infection prevention standards.

Qualifications

• BLS certification within 30 days (AHA).
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Oral and Maxillofacial surgical procedures.
• Perform radiographs and support care coordination in the diagnostic dental lab.
• Clean, sterilize, and assemble instruments, supplies, and equipment required for procedures.
• Handle surgical instruments properly and apply clean and sterile techniques.
• Anticipate surgeon needs through proper equipment setup and instrument passing.
• Take and record patient vital signs.
• Recognize abnormal vital sign variances and communicate findings to the RN or provider.
• Set up and assist with pre-operative and post-operative examinations.
• Assist with suture removal procedures.
• Clean and sterilize instruments according to infection prevention standards.
• Prepare patients for X-ray or ICAT imaging procedures.
• Perform digital imaging as ordered by the provider or according to protocol.
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $20.08per hour - $32.53per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
