Overview

Akron Children’s Hospital is seeking an Oral Surgeon to provide comprehensive oral surgical care to pediatric patients. The role involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, participation in education and research, and commitment to high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Perform a wide range of oral surgical procedures, including extractions, corrective jaw surgery, implant placement, and oral pathology treatment.
  • Collaborate with pediatric dentists, orthodontists, otolaryngologists, plastic surgeons, and other specialists for treatment planning.
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative patient care, including evaluation, consultation, and follow-up.
  • Participate in hospital rounds, conferences, and meetings to discuss patient cases.
  • Contribute to education and training of residents, students, and healthcare professionals through lectures, demonstrations, and mentorship.
  • Engage in scholarly activities such as research, publications, and conference presentations.
  • Follow hospital policies, professional standards, and guidelines to ensure safety and quality.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient encounters and treatment outcomes in electronic medical records.
Qualifications
  • DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental school.
  • Completion of an accredited oral and maxillofacial surgery residency program.
  • Board certification by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS).
  • Valid dental license and ability to obtain medical licensure in Ohio.
  • Excellent clinical skills and knowledge of pediatric oral surgical techniques and technologies.

Experience
  • Minimum of three years of post-residency experience in pediatric oral and maxillofacial surgery preferred.
