Job Duties

Oral Medicine and Maxillofacial Surgery - Geisinger

The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Geisinger, a leader in quality, innovation, research, and education, is seeking BC/BE oral and maxillofacial surgeons at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA. The successful candidates will join a full-scope, academic CODA-accredited OMFS practice with a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, collaborating with various departments within the health system. The practice emphasizes maxillofacial trauma, dentoalveolar and implant surgery with in-office sedation, corrective jaw surgery, cleft palate, TMJ, and reconstructive surgery. These positions offer excellent opportunities for new graduates or experienced surgeons to teach, work with residents, and participate in research with dedicated faculty time.

Qualifications:

  • Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS), or dual-degree DMD/DDS, MD
  • Licensure in Pennsylvania for DMD/DDS

Responsibilities include:

  • Patient interviews to gather symptoms, medical, and family histories
  • Performing and interpreting diagnostic tests as needed
  • Diagnosing and planning treatment for injuries or illnesses, prescribing medications, and maintaining records

Work environment is clinical and office-based. The role requires adherence to organizational policies and job-specific obligations. Additional competencies may be required based on departmental orientation.

Education required: Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
