Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of related experience (equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree).
  • 6-8 years Database Administrator experience in MS SQL, Oracle, MySQL or PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with MS SQL Availability Groups, DAGs and Oracle Data Guard.
  • Proficiency with Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, MS T-SQL and related tools.
  • Familiarity with Oracle RMAN, Data Pump, and Data Guard is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain database systems for AAO applications.
  • Design, develop and integrate database solutions and ensure security and backups.
  • Install, configure, upgrade, migrate, and patch enterprise databases.
  • Implement HA and DR architectures and monitor performance.
  • Work with networking concepts in a client/server environment.
  • Utilize Unix, PowerShell or similar scripting for automation.
  • Collaborate with DBAs in a team to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Document processes, procedures and system configurations.

Job Description:

The Database Administrator will be responsible for the administration and maintenance of database systems implemented in support of AAO applications. The AAO database infrastructure consists of Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL and MySQL platforms.

Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrates solid knowledge in database design, development and integration principles
  • Fundamental knowledge of database administration best practices and techniques
  • Experience supporting mission critical database management systems
  • Understanding of ANSI Standard SQL constructs for Database Administration
  • Experience installing, configuring, upgrading, migrating, provisioning, securing, patching, backing up and recovery of enterprise database systems
  • Conceptual knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) database architectures
  • Good understanding of networking concepts and principles in a client/server database environment
  • Experience in Unix, PowerShell or other scripting language
  • Must have good communication, presentation, documentation and organizational skills
  • Effectively works in a team environment with other DBAs to troubleshoot and resolve complex database problems; demonstrates strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced environment
  • Schedule flexibility is required to support on-call DBA rotation and the ability to respond to trouble tickets within time required by SLAs
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of experience (equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree)
  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain the relevant clearance are required
  • 6-8 years Database Administrator experience
  • Preferred experience with Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL or PostgreSQL databases in single instance or clustered configurations
  • Experience configuring and supporting MS SQL Availability Groups (AGs), Distributed Availability Groups (DAGs), Oracle Data Guard, and MySQL master-slave replication
  • Demonstrated experience using Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, MS T-SQL
  • Experience with client tools such as Oracle SQL Developer, TOAD, MS SQL Workbench, SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) are a plus
  • Knowledgeable in configuring Oracle Net Services
  • Experience in client/server applications design and development is a plus
  • Familiarity and/or experience with Oracle RMAN, DataPump, and Data Guard
  • Experience with Red Hat Linux and MS Windows Operating Systems on VMware
  • Understanding of database consolidation and virtualization concepts and best practices

The likely salary range for this position is $84,150 - $113,850. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
