Job summary

A woman-owned IT solutions company located in Calverton, Maryland, is seeking a skilled Oracle Database Administrator. The candidate will be responsible for the operations, maintenance, and performance tuning of Oracle databases, as well as troubleshooting issues. A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is required, along with at least four years of experience in IT delivery and operations. Ideal candidates should possess excellent communication skills and organizational abilities. Experience with Oracle Exadata is preferred.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for the operations and maintenance of the Oracle Databases in a RAC and non RAC environment
• Assist in troubleshooting database issues
• Assist in database performance tuning
• Responsible for installing and configuring databases
• Responsible for RMAN backup of databases
• Responsible for applying quarterly Oracle database patch and database upgrade

Qualifications

Minimum skills and qualifications

• Ability to acquire a Public Trust
• 4 years or more of IT Delivery and/or Operations experience
• 4 years or more of writing SQL queries
• 4 years or more of managing Oracle databases in a Unix/Linux environment
• Possess excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Bachelors Degree or 4 additional years experience in lieu of degree

Preferred skills and qualifications

• Experience with Oracle Exadata
• Experience with managing Oracle databases in a RAC and non RAC environment
• Experience with applying Oracle patch in an Oracle Exadata RAC environment
• Certified Oracle DBA
• IT Operations experience in a Homeland Security or Law Enforcement environment
