Texas Workforce Commission in Austin, TX is seeking an Oracle Database Engineer to perform senior-level analysis, design, and modernization of enterprise data systems. You will architect, implement, and maintain complex Oracle PL/SQL code, and lead the development of ETL pipelines using Informatica IICS.

This role requires strong skills in data modeling, performance tuning, and collaboration across IT and business teams. On-site work at 101 E.

Qualifications

• Three years of full-time experience in programming, systems analysis, or program analysis.
• Experience with Oracle SQL/PL-SQL and enterprise data warehouses.
• Experience converting legacy ETL solutions to modern ETL implementations.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Oracle Database Engineer will perform highly complex (senior-level) computer systems analysis work.Work involves planning and analyzing user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or to improve existing systems. May supervise the work of others. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO:

• Architect, develop, and maintain complex backend database systems using Oracle PL/SQL (Procedures, Functions, and Packages).
• Engineer, build, and optimize automated ETL pipelines utilizing Informatica Cloud Services (IICS).
• Translate business requirements into robust, scalable database designs and technical specifications.
• Reverse-engineer, refactor, and modernize legacy SQL and PL/SQL codebases to improve performance, maintainability, and scalability.
• Perform query optimization, performance tuning, and index management within an Oracle Enterprise Data Warehouse environment.
• Design and implement robust error-handling, data validation, and logging mechanisms within ETL processes and database code.
• Write and maintain clear, concise technical documentation including system architectures, data flow diagrams, and codebase comments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional IT and business teams to ensure seamless integration of database systems with downstream reporting tools and applications.
• Participate in peer code reviews, enforce coding standards, and contribute to the establishment of database engineering best practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

YOU QUALIFY WITH:

• Three years of full-time experience in computer programming, systems analysis and/or program analysis or three years of full-time experience which provided general knowledge of data processing or systems analysis.
• Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position.

YOU ARE A GREAT FIT WITH:

• Three years of full-time software engineering experience developing, troubleshooting, and reverse-engineering complex Oracle SQL and PL/SQL codebases.
• Three years of full-time experience designing and converting legacy ETL solutions to contemporary ETL implementations.
• Three years of full-time experience architecting systems for, and processing, large data sets in an enterprise environment.
• Deep expertise writing backend code within Oracle database environments (Packages, Functions, Procedures).
• Hands-on experience designing and creating Informatica Cloud Services (IICS) taskflows, mappings, and components.
• Professional experience coding within Oracle SQL Developer, DBeaver, VS Code, or other industry-standard SQL IDEs, ideally utilizing version control (GitHub).
• A strong systems-thinking mindset—driven to improve system architecture, optimize performance, and eliminate technical debt when points of potential improvement are encountered.
• An intra- and inter-team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong ability to present technical architectures, observations, and findings clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• An emphasis on consistency, accuracy, and precision in codebases and communication style.
• Ability and willingness to lean the business aspects behind projects.
