Job summary

Wise Equation Solutions Inc. in Boston, MA seeks an Oracle Database Administrator to join a hybrid team supporting mission-critical production databases. You will tune performance, analyze complex SQL/PLSQL problems, and automate maintenance tasks across a large, multi-terabyte environment.

The role requires 8+ years of experience with Oracle 19c, strong Linux skills, and a proven ability to resolve high-severity incidents in a fast-paced setting. W2 contract-to-hire, on-site two days in Boston.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on Oracle Database Administration experience, including Oracle 19c.
• Demonstrated expertise in Oracle performance tuning and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in Korn shell scripting (highly preferred).
• Strong SQL and PL/SQL skills for diagnostics and performance analysis.
• Advanced knowledge of Linux OS and system administration.
• Experience with large-scale, production database environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
• Ability to prioritize and resolve multiple high-severity issues simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced Oracle performance tuning using AWR reports, execution plans, traces, indexing, partitioning, and SQL optimization.
• Conduct deep root-cause analysis for performance issues.
• Validate and demonstrate strong SQL, SQL*Plus, PL/SQL, and Korn shell scripting skills, especially in automation, database refreshes, patching, and maintenance.
• Diagnose Linux OS issues (memory, network, and I/O) and correlate findings with Oracle database performance.
• Manage and support large, multi-terabyte Oracle databases in high-pressure production environments.
• Provide basic-to-intermediate RAC, ASM, and Grid support.
• Efficiently handle and prioritize multiple concurrent incidents via ServiceNow.
• Independently learn new technologies and adapt quickly, especially in high-urgency situations.

Key Responsibilities
