The Miriam Hospital in Providence, RI, seeks an OR Technician to support the perioperative team, assist with patient positioning and care, and help prepare the operating room for daily schedules.
The role emphasizes safety, sterile technique, and collaboration with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia staff to deliver high-quality perioperative services in a fast-paced hospital environment.
The OR technician reports to the Professional Nurse and performs a variety of technical and patient care functions that provide assistance to the Perioperative Nurse and Surgical Team in planning and implementing operation room activities. All essential functions performed in this position reflect the age specific needs of the patients. BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
High school graduate or equivalent. Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
EXPERIENCE:
ix months patient care experience in an acute patient care/operating room or surgicenter environment, preferred.
Healthcare environment such as acute care hospitals, physicians’ offices and ancillary healthcare enterprises. Works with medical equipment and has direct patient contact. Any potential hazards are minimized by adherence to established safety procedures and precautions including use safety equipment and protective clothing.
