  • Maintain sterile technique and adhere to infection prevention policies.
  • Handle, organize, and pass surgical instruments and equipment with accuracy.
  • Assist with direct patient care before, during, and after surgery while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Support maintenance and preparation of instruments and equipment between procedures.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and perioperative team members.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development.
  • Operate within legal and professional scope and comply with standards.

A typical day for an Operating Room Technician may include:
  • Preparing operating rooms for surgical procedures by ensuring instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are available, organized, and functioning properly
  • Assisting surgeons, registered nurses, and other members of the surgical team by providing skilled scrub support throughout a variety of surgical procedures
  • Anticipating the needs of the surgical team and responding efficiently to maintain a smooth, safe, and effective operative environment
  • Maintaining sterile technique and adhering to infection prevention, aseptic practices, and organizational policies throughout every procedure
  • Handling, organizing, and passing surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Assisting with direct patient care activities before, during, and after surgery while supporting patient safety, comfort, and dignity
  • Supporting the maintenance, cleaning, and preparation of surgical instruments and operating room equipment between procedures
  • Collaborating closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and other perioperative team members to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives, staff education, and ongoing professional development to support clinical excellence and continuous learning
  • Practicing within the legal and professional scope of the Operating Room Technician role while maintaining compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards

To be considered for this Operating Room Technician opportunity,

you are passionate about supporting safe, high-quality surgical care through technical expertise and collaborative teamwork. You are a high school graduate who has successfully completed an accredited Operating Room Technician training program. Current certification through the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) and American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification are required. You are committed to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety, surgical excellence, and professional practice while contributing to a collaborative perioperative team. Must be available a minimum of 16 hours per month.
