Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Surgical Technician for our Nashville-area Operating Room team. You will work days, full-time, supporting surgeons by ensuring instruments and supplies are ready for each step of the procedure and by safeguarding the sterile field throughout the operation.

The role emphasizes patient safety, precise positioning, and meticulous draping, with a focus on accurate instrument counts and adherence to hospital protocols. A strong credentialing background is required.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 30 days of hire date required (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
• Surgical Tech credentialed from NBSTSA obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Non-certified applicants must have 18 months of surgical technologist experience in the 3 years preceding 5/21/07; or began training prior to 5/21/07 and completed by 5/21/10.

Responsibilities

• Intuitve Surgical Partnership: Act as the "right hand" to our surgeons by anticipating every move and ensuring the exact instrument or supply is ready before it's requested.
• Patient Advocacy in Motion: Protect the patient’s journey with precise positioning, meticulous draping, and safety at every stage of the procedure.
• Guardian of Accuracy: Maintain 100% accuracy in instrument and sponge counts, serving as the final word in patient safety from incision to closure.

Education

High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience

Associate's degree/Technical degree

4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience
