University Medical Center, Inc. is seeking a Surgical Technician to render direct patient care under RN supervision during surgical procedures. The role emphasizes sterile technique, instrument handling, specimen management, and operating room readiness.

Candidates should have a high school diploma and prefer graduates of accredited surgical technologist programs, plus any hospital-based or military training in surgical technology. Strong teamwork and compliance with HIPAA are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Preferred: graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program.
• Preferred: completion of UofL Health Surgical Technologist training program.
• Preferred: completion of a hospital-based surgical technologist training program.
• Graduates of military training in surgical technology are welcomed.
• Prior patient care experience is preferred.

Responsabilités

• Prepare operative area and sterile field, maintain aseptic technique.
• Pass instruments, sponges, and sutures to surgeon; count needles, sponges, and instruments.
• Receive and handle surgical specimens as directed by surgeon.
• Set up operating room and assist with room turnover.
• Institute cleaning, reprocessing and storage of instruments and equipment.
• Assist in patient transfer and positioning as directed by surgeon or nurse.
