Job summary

The Surgical Specialty Center Of Baton Rouge is hiring a Registered Nurse Circulator to oversee patient care in the operating room. You will be responsible for perioperative nursing duties, patient assessment, and collaboration with the surgical team.

Qualified candidates have completed an approved nursing program and hold an active LA RN license with 1-2 years of OR experience. BLS is required; ACLS/PALS/CNOR are preferred. Monday-Friday shifts with varying hours at Baton Rouge, LA.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved nursing program with active RN licensure.
• Ability to assess, plan, implement and document perioperative nursing care.
• Strong communication and teamwork with surgical staff.

Responsibilities

• Assess and document nursing care for patients in surgery.
• Provide age-appropriate care for pediatric to geriatric patients in the OR.
• Coordinate nursing care with the surgical team to meet patient outcomes.
• Maintain a safe environment for patients during surgery.
• Educate patients and families about the procedure.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service to patients, families, co-workers and physicians.
• Follow Louisiana State Board of Nursing Act and AORN guidelines.
• Adhere to center policies and regulatory requirements.

Purpose

The Registered Nurse Circulator assumes responsibility and accountability for patients in the Operating Room during surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• The Registered Nurse will possess the ability to assess, plan, implement, evaluate and accurately document nursing care for the patient in surgery.
• The Registered Nurse will provide age-specific care for the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient population in surgery.
• Coordinates all aspects of nursing care with all disciplines of the surgical team to achieve defined patient outcomes.
• Provides safe environment for patients in surgery.
• The Registered Nurse must possess the skill to provide appropriate education to the patient and family regarding the surgical procedure.
• Displays excellent customer service skills when interacting with patients, families, co-workers and physicians.
• Practices within the guidelines of Louisiana State Board of Nursing Nurse Practice Act and AORN guidelines.
• Complies with the policy and procedures set forth by the Surgical Specialty Center of Baton Rouge and all applicable regulatory bodies.

Qualifications: Education

Completion of an approved nursing program, as evident by current RN licensure.

Experience

1-2 years of OR experience required.
