Job summary

Proliance Surgeons, Inc. is seeking an operating room registered nurse to perform circulating duties during surgery. The RN assesses patient needs, coordinates pre-surgical clearances and diagnostics, and communicates the plan of care.

Schedule is variable with Saturdays. The role involves collaboration with the health care team, patient education, equipment readiness, documentation, and ongoing professional development to meet licensure and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing is required.
  • Current State licensure and CPR, ACLS and PALS accreditation are required.
  • Two years of OR, Recovery Room, Intensive Care or Emergency Room experience is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Work with health care team to provide optimal care during the surgical experience.
  • Maintain a friendly, positive, caring attitude with patients, physicians and staff.
  • Assist in patient education during all phases of their experience at the Center.
  • Assist in ensuring proper supplies, instruments and equipment are available for procedures.
  • Assist in assuring equipment is functioning properly.
  • Monitor use of supplies and assist with inventory control.
  • Document the care given to the patient.
  • Participate in continuing education to meet State requirements.
  • Represent the Center professionally in the community.
  • Take an active role on department committees.
  • Identify and mitigate risks to patient safety.
  • Perform charge nurse responsibilities as staffing demands require.

Job description

Position Summary

The operating room RN performs circulating nursing duties at time of surgery. The RN assesses and evaluates the care needs of the patient, requests necessary pre-surgical clearances and diagnostics and communicates the patient’s plan of care.

Schedule: Variable hours, including Saturdays.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The key duties and responsibilities of the OR RN include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with all members of the health care team to provide optimal care to the patient throughout their surgical experience
  • Maintain a friendly, positive and caring attitude with all patients, physicians and staff
  • Assist in patient education during all phases of their experience at the Center
  • Assist in assuring that the proper supplies, instruments and equipment are available for the procedure
  • Assist in assuring that equipment is functioning properly
  • Monitor use of all supplies. Assist with inventory control by proper count of supplies/time used.
  • Document appropriately the care that is given to the patient
  • Continuing education to meet State requirements and keep current with health care changes.
  • Display professionalism at work and in the community as a representative of the Center
  • Take an active role on committees within the department
  • Identifies actual and potential risk to patients and others and takes action to minimize or eliminate risk and maximize safety
  • Performs charge nurse responsibilities as staffing demands and as requested
Education/Experience
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Current State licensure and CPR, ACLS and PALS accreditation
