Job summary

University of the Pacific is seeking a Registered Nurse for the OR/PACU who can work part-time or per diem. The RN must hold a California license and BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications, with at least one year in OR or PACU nursing.

Duties include circulating or scrub roles, patient assessment, documentation, and education, Monday–Friday in a fast-paced ASC setting. The role emphasizes safety, policy adherence, and collaboration with surgical teams, while ensuring high-quality patient care and staff

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the state of California.
• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certifications.
• One year of full-time general nursing care experience in an OR and/or PACU.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to OR/PACU workflow, policy, and patient care protocol development and implementation.
• Assess patients prior to surgery and review medical histories, laboratory results, and surgical consents.
• Support the operating room, equipment, instruments, and supplies for surgical procedures.
• Serve as a circulating nurse during surgical procedures, or scrub nurse if needed.
• Document patient care, surgical events, and procedural outcomes accurately and timely.
• Provide patient and family education regarding surgical procedures and recovery expectations.
• Comply with ASC policies, regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
• Assist the surgical team during procedures and respond to emergencies.
• Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to infection prevention protocols.
• Support teaching, mentoring, and interprofessional education initiatives.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
• Provide care with a diverse patient population.
• Provide staff coverage as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
