Job summary

University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center seeks a Nursing Department Manager to lead the Operating Room team and drive excellence across surgical services. This senior role oversees clinical quality, staffing, budgeting, compliance, and patient safety, with hands-on perioperative practice as needed.

The ideal candidate has strong perioperative leadership experience, possesses an active MD RN license, and holds a BSN with BLS/ACLS certification.

Qualifications

• RN license required in MD or compact eligibility.
• BSN degree required.
• 3–5 years of progressive nursing leadership/management experience.
• CNOR or perioperative certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide departmental leadership for selected patient care departments within the Division.
• Direct and coordinate patient care activities and nursing programs.
• Design models of care and practice for administrative units.
• Forecast trends and improve existing systems.
• Coordinate with other departments to maintain a safe environment.
