Job summary

Stewart Memorial Hospital and Clinics is seeking an OR Nurse (RN) to deliver and coordinate nursing care in Outpatient Surgery, the Operating Room, and Recovery Room. FULL-TIME OPENINGOR Nurse (RN)Weekly call and holidays requiredTypical hours: 6:30AM to 3PM Monday/Tuesday/Thursday with remaining hours divided between Wednesday and Friday depending on weekly surgery schedule.Location: Lake City, IARESPONSIBILITIES:As an OR Nurse, you will provide and coordinate nursing care for patients in Outpatient Surgery, the Operating Room, and Recovery Room. You will work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide safe, effective care to surgical patients while also supporting emergency and trauma care as needed.Other responsibilities include:Provide direct patient care, evaluate outcomes, and adjust nursing care as needed to ensure optimal patient care.Monitor the condition of surgical patients and report changes to appropriate personnel.Assist physicians with examinations, procedures, emergency medical care, and trauma care.Provide support to patients and families during times of stress or crisis.Provide appropriate nursing care to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.Maintain accurate and confidential patient medical records in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.Maintain departmental policies and procedures, quality assurance, safety, infection control, and compliance standards.Ensure adequate supplies are available and equipment is functioning properly.Help maintain Outpatient Surgery, OR, and Recovery Room facilities, equipment, supplies, and materials to promote patient and staff safety.Monitor department areas for compliance with applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and standards.Respond to Trauma Code calls.Participate in the scheduled call rotation after regular department hours.Promote effective communication and positive working relationships throughout the hospital.Attend required meetings.Perform other nursing duties and responsibilities as assigned.POSITION REQUIREMENTS:Prior acute care experience required.Graduate of a state-accredited school of nursing.Current Iowa RN license required.ACLS certification required.PALS certification required.NRP certification required.Must satisfactorily qualify through an Iowa Criminal History/Dependent Adult Abuse check within applicable laws.HARD SKILL REQUIREMENTS:Starting peripheral IV lines.Inserting urinary catheters.Obtaining and monitoring vital signs.Initiating chest tubes.Maintaining a patent airway.Ability to perform nursing functions within Outpatient Surgery, the Operating Room, and Recovery Room.SOFT SKILL REQUIREMENTS:Strong communication skills.Critical thinking and clinical judgment.Ability to work effectively as part of a team.Self-motivation.Flexibility and adaptability.Determination and persistence.Ability to learn quickly.Strong time-management skills.Stewart Memorial Hospital and Clinics and all affiliated organizations is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE) and prohibits discrimination in employment on the basis of race, creed, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, pregnancy, disability, genetic information, status as a U.S. veteran, service in the U.S. military, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, associational preferences, or any other classification that deprives the person of consideration as an individual.
