Job summary

The Toledo Clinic is seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist physicians in the operating room, handling instruments and equipment. You will work under the OPS Director of Nursing and collaborate with Circulating Nurses to ensure case readiness.

Qualifications

• Current certification in Surgical Technology is required.
• Maintains knowledge of AORN standards and sterile scrubbing techniques.
• Adheres to Universal Precaution Standards and Toledo Clinic policies.
• Arrives to work on time in professional attire and completes tasks within timeframes.
• Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.

Responsibilities

• Assesses the Operating Room in preparation of procedures.
• Plans for needed supplies and equipment according to procedure.
• Identifies and corrects breaks in sterile technique immediately.
• Uses sterile technique to apply dressings.
• Evaluates proper care of instruments and reports any necessary repairs.
• Collaborates with Circulating Nurse and OR staff on procedure prep.
• Assists in sponge, sharps, and instrument counts.
• Participates in Quality Assurance/Improvement.
• Updates physician preference cards as needed.
• Positions patient on table and moves patient to stretcher after the case.
• Other duties as assigned.
