Job description

Responsible for performing routine to complex diagnostic technical procedures under the direction of a surgeon to provide imaging guidance utilizing multiple modalities including standard X-ray imaging, Mobile Fluoroscopy, and Mobile Computed Tomography (CT) O-arm and Siemens CIOS SPIN in a sterile environment. Must operate the C-arm for orthopedic trauma cases, complex scoliosis spine cases, along with general cases. Serve as a technical specialist providing high-level imaging knowledge to the surgical environment and support new technology integration with imaging platforms. Operate ARTIS Pheno hybrid IR and vascular imaging rooms. Produce and modify quality post-operative imaging and identify appropriate anatomy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Weekend Program is a 12-month commitment to work 48 scheduled weekends in a 12-month period, beginning with the first shift worked. Travel allowance available for eligible employees traveling greater than 75 miles one way.

  • Perform multidisciplinary surgical imaging, including:
  • Standard X-ray imaging, surgical site verification, Rad-Link navigation, and post-operative imaging as ordered.
  • Operate and manipulate mobile fluoroscopic imaging (C-arm) to support implant placement, scoliosis surgery, deep brain stimulator placement, cystography, Transsphenoidal hypophysectomy, Brain Lab Stealth surgery, 3D C-arm spins and reconstructions, Super Dimension fluoroscopic navigation, ION robotic pulmonary imaging, Mazor X robotic assistance, and intraoperative confirmation with Radlink imaging. Conduct IR and vascular imaging with subtraction and road mapping.
  • Operate mobile CT units (O-arm and CIOS Spin) in the OR for surgical guidance and hardware verification.
  • Follow established imaging protocols and safety standards.
  • Instruct students and perform preceptor duties when necessary.
  • Perform equipment quality checks and demonstrate knowledge of medical information systems, imaging techniques, protocols, and billing.
  • Learn new techniques and technologies through educational resources and seminars.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain imaging equipment to produce high-quality radiographic images.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Establish ownership of the clinical area by maintaining cleanliness and readiness of exam rooms, equipment, and supplies.

Position Compensation Range: $30.13 - $48.21 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduate of an accredited JRC radiography program required; Associate’s Degree preferred. Enrolled students may apply but must be certified before the start date.

Experience: No experience required.

Licensure: Certified Radiologic Technologist (ARRT R.T.) required prior to start. BLS certification required. Valid Virginia Driver’s License may be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Requires standing for prolonged periods, bending, reaching, repetitive motions, and lifting/pushing/pulling 50-100 lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, noise, radiation, blood, and infectious diseases.
