Job description

Responsible for performing routine to complex diagnostic technical procedures under the direction of a surgeon to provide imaging guidance utilizing multiple modalities including standard X-ray imaging, Mobile Fluoroscopy, and Mobile Computed Tomography (CT) O-arm and Siemens CIOS SPIN in a sterile environment. Must operate the C-arm for orthopedic trauma cases, complex scoliosis spine cases, and general cases. Acts as a technical specialist providing high-level imaging knowledge to the surgical environment and supports new technology interfacing with imaging platforms. Operates ARTIS Pheno hybrid IR and Vascular imaging rooms. Capable of producing and modifying quality post-operative imaging and identifying appropriate anatomy.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Perform Multidisciplinary Surgical Imaging including:
  2. Standard X-ray imaging such as OR Miscounts, surgical site verification, Rad-Link navigation, and post-operative imaging as ordered.
  3. Operate and manipulate Mobile Fluoroscopic Imaging (C-arm) to support placement and verification of surgical implants, scoliosis spinal surgery, deep brain stimulator placement, cystography, Transsphenoidal hypophysectomy, Brain Lab Stealth supported surgery, 3D C-arm spins and reconstructions, Super Dimension Fluoroscopic Navigation, ION robotic pulmonary imaging, Mazor X - Robotic Imaging Assistance; intraoperative confirmation with Radlink imaging; IR and Vascular Imaging with subtraction and road mapping.
  4. Operate Mobile Computed Tomography units (O-arm and CIOS Spin) in the Operating Room for surgical guidance and hardware placement verification.
  5. Use established guidelines and protocols to operate imaging equipment.
  6. Ensure safety standards are met.
  7. Instruct students and perform preceptor duties when necessary.
  8. Perform quality checks on equipment.
  9. Demonstrate knowledge of Medical Center information systems, imaging techniques, protocols, and billing.
  10. Learn new techniques and technology through educational reading and seminars.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Operate and maintain required equipment to produce radiographic images.
  • Follow imaging protocols to ensure quality standards.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Instruct students and residents, performing preceptor duties as needed.
  • Maintain ownership and readiness of clinical areas, including exam rooms, equipment, and supplies.

Position Compensation Range: $30.13 - $48.21 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduate of an accredited JRC program in Radiography required. Associate's Degree in Radiography preferred. Current students in accredited programs may apply but must achieve certification prior to start date.

Experience: No experience required.

Licensure: Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT R.T.) required prior to start. AHA BLS certification required. Valid Virginia Driver's License may be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Standing for prolonged periods, frequent bending/stooping, traveling, reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive). Repetitive motions include computer keyboard use. Proficient in communication, auditory, visual skills, and attention to detail. Ability to lift/push/pull 50-100 lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, cold, dust, noise, radiation, blood/body fluids, and infectious diseases.
