Job summary

Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center is seeking a PRN OR First Assist to support surgical teams in a fast-paced operating room environment.

The role requires a certificate and certifications such as BLS/CPR or CSA/CSFA/SA, and at least 3 years of operating room experience. You will assist surgeons, manage sterile technique, and participate in on-call coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• Certificate or equivalent required.
• CPR/BLS or CSA/CSFA/SA certification must be obtained within 30 days of start date.
• Minimum 3 years of OR experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon and maintain sterile field.
• Provide equipment and supplies per patient/physician needs.
• Demonstrate competency in perioperative duties.
• Support OR team and ensure safe environment during procedures.
• Participate in on-call coverage and flexible staffing.

Job Summary And Qualifications

• Utilizes principles of aseptic technique in creating and maintaining a sterile field.
• Plans and provides equipment and supplies based on patient and physician needs.
• Demonstrates competency in assisting surgeon as it relate to unit scope if care.
• Promotes cost containment while delivering quality patient care within the operating room.
• Participates in on-call assignments and demonstrates flexibility to cover staffing as needed.
• Demonstrates flexibility to perform other functions within Surgical Services to assist in the smooth operation of the department.
• Provides a safe environment for the surgical patient during their perioperative experience.
• Serves as a professional member of the OR team.
• Pursues own professional growth through continuing education and in services.
• Adheres to hospital policies and procedures; supports the mission of the hospital.
• Exercises sound judgment and decision making skills on behalf of patient, self and peers.

What qualifications you will need:

• Certificate
• Basic Cardiac Life Support, or CPR, or (CSA) Certified Surgical Assistant, or (CSFA) Certified Surgical First Assistant, or (SA) Surgical Assistant must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
