OR Clinical Nurse Coordinator- Full Time- Days

Department: OPERATING ROOM

Job Summary

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) is a dynamic role that ensures and delivers high quality, patient-centered care and coordination of all functions in a unit/department during the designated shift. In collaboration with interdisciplinary team members and under the direction of the Senior Nurse Manager and the department’s Medical Director (physician), the CNC directs, monitors and evaluates nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures, serves as a resource person for staff, and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values. The CNC provides unit-based leadership and education while engaging staff and promoting evidenced based practice supporting quality outcomes, cost effective performance and organizational changes.

Core Job Responsibilities
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts and other managers to create an environment of care delivery and teamwork that supports improved outcomes and patient service.
  • Educates team members in theoretical and clinical competencies associated with the service line or unit.
  • Assists in the implementation of clinical pathways, standards of care, and guidelines for integrated patient care.
  • Participates in program development and program growth, working as a liaison between nursing staff and the providers.
  • Ensures quality nursing care is rendered to all patients in accordance with the New York Nurse Practice Act, National Standards of Practice, and Nursing and Clinical Service stands of care and practice.
  • Collaborates with unit leadership to achieve unit and organization quality improvement and outcome-based initiatives.
  • Attends meetings and conferences to exchange information on trends and best practices in the area of specialization or unit.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Education/Experience Requirements

REQUIRED:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school - BSN required.
  • 8 years of experience in specialty area to include direct patient care and clinical educator experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide and influence others.

PREFERRED:

  • MSN or working on MSN with an educational focus.
Licensure/Certification Requirements

REQUIRED:

  • Current NYS RN License
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification
  • Advanced Life Support Certification

PREFERRED:

  • Certification in area of specialty
