Job summary

Menorah Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for Surgery to join our Operating Room team in Overland Park/Leawood, Kansas. The RN will function as a circulating nurse, with scrubbing skills valued, supporting patient care across multiple PNDS developmental groups.

The role requires scheduling availability, teamwork, and commitment to patient safety. Responsibilities include preoperative evaluation, patient education, site verification, and adherence to universal protocols.

Qualifications

• Prior Surgery experience preferred.
• Experience in circulating and scrubbing preferred.
• If new to the OR, 2 years of progressive acute care nursing experience recommended.
• BLS certification required.
• Registered Nurse in good standing with appropriate licensure.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding procedures.
• Prepare patients, including IV therapy and preoperative meds.
• Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in collaboration with the OR team.
• Apply nursing process and clinical judgment to care delivery.
• Monitor patient condition and document changes during shifts.
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and follow-up.
