Job summary

Tampa General Hospital is seeking an OR Assistant for Labor and Delivery at the Tampa campus. This role supports patient transport, specimen handling, and maintaining sterile fields to support surgical teams.

You will restock, disinfect, and ensure infection control standards are upheld in operating rooms and nearby areas, working on-site at the main campus with a focus on patient safety. The ideal candidate will have BLS and a high school diploma, with a commitment to Tampa General's mission

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients, specimens, blood products, instruments, equipment, and supplies to designated locations.
• Restock surgical suites and support areas with necessary supplies and equipment.
• Disinfect operating rooms and equipment in accordance with hospital protocols.
• Monitor patient condition and report changes to licensed nursing staff.
• Ensure infection control standards are met in all surgical areas.

Description

The OR Assistant is responsible for transporting patients, specimens, blood products, instruments, equipment,
and supplies to designated locations. Additional responsibilities include restocking surgical suites and support
areas, as well as disinfecting operating rooms and equipment as needed. All duties are performed in alignment
with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Essential Functions

• Manages patient care assignments in accordance with hospital standards.
• Remains alert to changes in patient condition and promptly reports any significant signs and symptoms to
  assigned licensed nursing staff.
• Perform disinfection of operating rooms and equipment in accordance with hospital protocols.
• Ensure all surgical areas are properly cleaned and maintained to meet infection control standards.
• Restock surgical suites and support areas with necessary supplies and equipment.
